The Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection who doubles as the MP for Agona West was in the Agona Swedru Magistrate Court on 28th February, 2020 to defend the objection raised by a unit committee member [Eric Yankey]of the Wawase Electoral Area, a suburb of Agona Swedru.
Recall that the MPs registration was challenged during the Voter Registration exercise for not being a resident of Wawase Electoral Area, this was widely reported by several online portals, but the matter was not heard by the District Registration Review Committee (DRRC) because according to the EC, the returning officer didn’t complete the challenge process.
The case has since been adjourned after preliminary hearings, and the various parties to the case including constituents are expecting the final ruling on the matter on Tuesday, 29th September, 2020.
Speaking on a winneba based radio station Nyce FM 90.7, about the impending visit of Prof Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang to the Constituency on Thursday 1st October, 2020, the communications Officer of the NDC for the Constituency, Abdul-Wahab Africa Zion touted the unblemished track record and accomplishments of the NDC running mate in the 2020 elections.
Auntie Naana is a distinguished personality, very passionate about development of our dear country and has served encouraging Ghanaians to vote
He called on the good people of Agonaman to come out in their numbers to welcome “Auntie Naana” as she’s affectionately called since the party is focused on campaigning massively on the track record of the NDC and the People’s Manifesto in every nook and cranny of the Constituency and not interested in the objection raised by a unit committee member, legitimate as it may seem.
Prof Naana suspended her campaign to the Constituency due to the unprecedented anomalies and scale of irregularities in the just ended voter exhibition exercise which affected thousands of Ghanaians including the running of the NDC.
