Anyaa Sowutuom being one of the constituencies that was carved out from the now defunct Weija Constituency, had it’s first Member of Parliament in 2016 in the person of Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchway.
However, Hon Shirley Ayokor Botchway due one or two reasons, decided not to contest for the seat again as the Parliamentary Aspirant for NPP.
In situations like this, a perfect replacement is always needed to ensure that NPP retains the Anyaa Sowutuom Parliamentary seat.
Out of the 5 aspirants, Dr Adomako Kissi seem to be in the lead and this is why. But before then, permit me to share with you series of events that has happened in NPP party since 1992 during the era of Prof. Adu Boahen, to H.E J A Kuffour through to Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo Addo.
The party has always rewarded loyal and hardworking people in the party, and this undocumented tradition has played a major role and served as a deciding factor in the Selection of people into positions in the party, and Dr. Kissi has this point to his advantage.
This is because he has been a rallying point for the youth and to the party as a whole in the constituency over the years.
Having served as an Executive member of the party, and being a member of a number of youth groups of the party, he also contested in the 2015 NPP parliamentary primaries for the 2016 General Elections and was the runner up to the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchway.
Dr Kissi’s unalloyed commitment to the party was manifested when he devoted all his time, resources and energy to the NPP campaign in the constituency and around the country even when he lost the parliamentary primaries.
According to a petition sent to Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo by GHANA Youth for Change and Development (GYFD), a political youth group of New Patriotic Party (NPP) even before the appointment of the current MCE, the petitioners who had wanted Nana to appoint Dr. Kissi indicated that Dr. participated in all campaign programmes in the constituency and was always on stand-by and could be called upon even at midnight by the constituency executives and the constituents.
In addition to this, historical events of The late Hon. C K TEDEM, stories about Dr K .A Busia, S . B Dombo, Tolon Naa, Victor Owusu just to mention a few, cleary indicates that NPP rewards loyalty and believes in first come first serve.
And among the five(5) contestants, it is only Dr. Dickson Adomako Kissi who has served the people in various capacities for years.
Giving him the mandate as the Parliamentary Candidate is likely to increase the chances of NPP in the General Elections.
